11/14 and we’re playing soccer

We are playing soccer today, 11/14.  It is a bit wet but the Weather Service says there was no measurable rain in the last 24 hours.  SJ Park and Rec says the fields are open.  So, we’re playing soccer today!

The official policy on weather prioritizes Safety, then the Field. If the field is in a playable condition, we’ll have the kids play.

Rain may affect different PAL Soccer fields in different ways. One field may be playable when another is not. We will update our website if conditions change, but you should speak to your coach if you suspect a game may be postponed due to rain. Do not assume the games are off until you hear from your coach.

Please also review our Fall Weather Soccer Tips.  There are hints for parents and players.

When it rains, PAL probably still plays …

On days when it rains (or when it rains that week) we are hoping for a full slate of games without fear of rainouts. When rain impacts our playing schedule your coach will be the first to know.

Fall weather arrives …

The familiar autumn weather pattern has arrived in San Jose, featuring cooler mornings and wetter conditions for soccer games. We’ve got some tips for you to keep warm:

Layered clothing is good … for players and spectators! Players U12 and older have special color requirements for undergarments; please consult your coach. Players U10 and younger can wear long-sleeve garments of any color under their jersey. All players are required to wear their league-issued shorts and socks.

Fleece stays the driest! Bring blankets, bring sweaters, scarves …. whatever. You’ll be happiest if they are fleece.

If you don’t already have folding lawn chairs, get some! Post-summer clearance sales are on now, and the folding camping chairs keep you safely above the wet grass.

If you’ve got other tips to share, please leave a comment!
